President
Obama has pushed a number of key policy decisions until after the Nov. 4
election, and Colin Hanna wants voters to realize that before they hit
the ballot box.
Mr.
Hanna, president of the Pennsylvania-based conservative group Let
Freedom Ring, is gathering signatures for two online petitions calling
on Mr. Obama to reveal prior
to the election his plans for an executive order on immigration and the
2015 Obamacare premium figures.
While
it’s doubtful the president will reverse course two weeks before the
vote, Mr. Hanna said the “We Need to Know” campaign is aimed at
spotlighting what he described
as the Obama administration’s politically calculated move to postpone
the potentially divisive announcements.
“I
think it betrays a kind of contempt for the American voter that really
needs to be recognized and labeled as such,” Mr. Hanna said. “It’s as if
they really believe
that they can fool the American voter, that the American voter is so
easily deceived that by withholding this information they can pull a
fastone on the voter.”
Mr.
Obama said in September that he would delay an executive order on
immigration reform until the first of the year. Meanwhile, the
administration has announced that
the Healthcare.gov website will begin its 2015 enrollment period on
Nov. 15, which means voters won’t know by how much premiums will
increase until after the election.
The
president is also waiting until after the election to decide whether to
approve construction of the Keystone XL pipeline as well as select a
replacement for outgoing
Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr.
“The
American People deserve the truth — for a change — before the election
this November,” says the Obamacare petition. Both petitions are posted
online at www.weneedtoknow.com.
