Donald Trump just changed his tone on the attack of a Boston Hispanic man done by two of his supporters.
“Boston
incident is terrible. We need energy and passion, but we must treat
each other with respect. I would never condone violence,” he tweeted
Friday.
Earlier
this week, two men beat a homeless man with a metal pipe and then
urinated on him. They expressed no remorse. Instead, one brother said
“Donald Trump was right,
all these illegals need to be deported,” according to an account in the
Boston Globe.
When
asked about the incident at a town hall Wednesday, Trump said he didn’t
know anything about it but said it would “be a shame.”
“I
will say, the people that are following me are very passionate,” Trump
continued. “They love this country, they want this country to be great
again.”
Trump’s
immigration plan, released Sunday, calls for a wall across the
1,900-mile U.S. border with Mexico and the deportation of the estimated
11 million immigrants who
are in the U.S. illegally. Trump also called for revoking so-called
birthright citizenship, the 14th Amendment provision that grants citizenship to children born to undocumented immigrants in the United
States.
The proposals have roiled the GOP field, with even Jeb Bush, who has presented himself as a moderate on immigration, vowing to crack down on parents of “anchor babies” who abuse the system.
