Donald
Trump is poised to announce whether he will actually run for the White
House after flirting with a 2016 bid for several months.
The
business mogul will deliver a "major announcement" late Tuesday morning
at New York City's Trump Tower. A logo reading “Trump: Make America
Great Again!” was published
on Trump’s Facebook page late Monday.
Trump
has signaled he is seriously considering joining the extremely crowded
GOP field, which grew to 11 on Monday with the official entrance of
former Florida Gov. Jeb
Bush.
Trump
set up an exploratory committee, hired staff and has toured early
voting states such as Iowa and New Hampshire in recent months. Last
month he said he was "very
much inclined" to join the GOP field.
Jumping into the 2016 race would require a disclosure of personal finances, which Trump has signaled he will do on Tuesday.
His
release will summarize his assets to total about $9 billion, according
to The Washington Post and The Associated Press. Trump told Bloomberg
for a Tuesday story it
was closer to $10 billion.
Trump
has bashed many candidates in the Republican field, and the celebrity
property developer would likely campaign on a business-centric platform
involving issues such
as trade and immigration.
While
he is not thought to be among the top-tier of Republican hopefuls,
Trump has pointed to his personal wealth and business savvy as evidence
of successes to help set
himself apart.
