Politico:

The
latest group trying to claw information out of the Obama administration
on its coming executive action on immigration: House Republicans.
GOP
lawmakers on the House Judiciary Committee fired off a letter to
President Barack Obama on Monday, demanding that he “immediately”
publicize all the recommendations
he’s gotten on how to go around Congress on immigration.
The
chances that Obama will unveil his recommendations from Homeland
Security Secretary Jeh Johnson and Attorney General Eric Holder are
close to zero, at best. The administration
has held the range of policy options it’s considering very close to its
vest, including in private sessions with lawmakers and advocates.
Still,
the Republican letter shows that the GOP won’t let up on the Obama
administration anytime soon, particularly after the White House decided
to delay announcing executive
action on immigration until after the midterm elections.
Releasing
the recommendations “could go some way toward repairing the damage to
the American political process caused by the secrecy with which your
Administration has
considered changes to our immigration system,” the lawmakers wrote.
“Whether
it’s now or November, it is never acceptable for the Executive Branch
to ignore the Constitution and unilaterally give amnesty to unlawful
immigrants,” the letter
says. “Regarding actions you are planning that you believe would comply
with the Constitution, the least the Administration can do is give
Americans the opportunity to see the recommendations that you are
considering before you take any actions.”
The letter was led by Rep. Bob Goodlatte, the committee’s chairman, and signed by 21 other GOP lawmakers on the panel.
