Effective
immediately, the National Labor Relations Board’s Region 28 office in Phoenix,
Arizona will be closed temporarily due to an employee in that office possibly
having been exposed to the coronavirus. As a precaution, a deep clean of the
Phoenix office will be completed before reopening. The Agency is taking this
step to ensure the health and safety of our employees and the public.
Additionally,
the NLRB’s Birmingham Resident Office is closed today due to a lack of
resources needed to operate the office.
Regional
personnel will continue to handle unfair labor practice investigations and
processing representation petitions. Additional guidance regarding future
hearings and elections will be issued at a later date. Parties should continue
to e-file documents, as required by GC-20-01.
Individuals
needing immediate assistance from Region 28, Phoenix may contact the NLRB’s Las
Vegas Resident Office at (702) 388-6416.
NLRB
Leadership continues to monitor and assess the impact of COVID-19 on Agency
operations and will continue to keep our staff and the public informed of any
developments. Given the fluid nature of the situation, all future announcements
concerning the operating status of our regional and field offices will be
provided directly on our NLRB website (here) rather than
being announced individually by press release.
Established
in 1935, the National Labor Relations Board is an independent federal agency
that protects employees and employers, and unions from unfair labor practices
and protects the right of private sector employees to join together, with or
without a union, to improve wages, benefits and working conditions. The NLRB
conducts hundreds of workplace elections and investigates thousands of unfair
labor practice charges each year.
