WASHINGTON, DC, April 8, 2020 – On April 1, 2020, the
National Labor Relations Board published a final rule making three amendments
to its rules and regulations governing the filing and processing of petitions
for a Board-conducted representation election and proof of majority support in
construction-industry collective-bargaining relationships. Due to the ongoing
national emergency caused by the coronavirus, the Board has postponed the
effective date 60 days. As published in the Federal Register today,
the new effective date is July 31, 2020.
Established in 1935, the National Labor
Relations Board is an independent federal agency that protects employees,
employers, and unions from unfair labor practices and protects the right of
private sector employees to join together, with or without a union, to improve
wages, benefits and working conditions. The NLRB conducts hundreds of workplace
elections and investigates thousands of unfair labor practice charges each
year.
