WASHINGTON,
DC—General Counsel Peter B. Robb named Alice B. Stock as Deputy General Counsel
of the National Labor Relations Board. Before her appointment, Ms. Stock was
serving as Associate General Counsel in the Office of the General
Counsel.
Before
joining the NLRB, Ms. Stock represented employers in labor and employment
matters for over 25 years, practicing in law firms in New York City. Most
recently, Ms. Stock served as a Partner with Pryor Cashman LLP in New York
City, a role she held from 2010 to 2018. Ms. Stock’s practice included a myriad
of matters falling under the NLRA, including defending unfair labor practice
charges and advising employers in collective bargaining and strike situations.
Ms. Stock has also counseled employers concerning employment discrimination,
sexual harassment, equal employment opportunity, affirmative action, wage and
hour, wrongful discharge and unfair competition issues and has represented
employers in such claims before federal, state and local courts and
administrative agencies.
General
Counsel Robb remarks: “Ms. Stock’s wealth of experience, keen intelligence and
charismatic personality has prepared her well for her new role at the NLRB. We
are very fortunate to have her serve as the Deputy General Counsel.”
Ms.
Stock received her bachelor’s degree from Yale University and her J.D. from
Harvard Law School.
The
Office of General Counsel is independent from the Board and is responsible for
the investigation and prosecution of unfair labor practice cases and for the
general supervision of the NLRB field offices in the processing of cases.
Established
in 1935, the National Labor Relations Board is an independent federal agency
that protects employees and employers from unfair labor practices and protects
the right of private sector employees to join together, with or without a
union, to improve wages, benefits and working conditions. The NLRB conducts
hundreds of workplace elections and investigates thousands of unfair labor
practice charges each year.
