States
fighting President Barack Obama's plan to spare millions of immigrants
from deportation say they agree with a Texas judge who has temporarily
blocked the president's
action.
Texas
is leading a coalition of states that filed a lawsuit opposing Obama's
move that could spare as many as 5 million immigrants living in the U.S.
illegally from deportation.
In
documents filed Monday with the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, the
states reiterated their argument that Obama's action would force local
governments to invest
more in law enforcement, health care and education.
The
appeals court is considering a request from the U.S. Department of
Justice to reverse a Texas judge's decision to put Obama's plan on hold
during the court fight.
Oral arguments are scheduled for the week of July 6.
