Dear Donald Trump: They Don’t Love You*

Happy #CincoDeMayo! The best taco bowls are made in Trump Tower Grill. I love Hispanics! https://www.facebook.com/DonaldTrump/posts/10157008375200725:0 …

*In other words, polls suggest that Latinos are not inclined to support the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, no matter what he eats, or what public displays of affection he attempts.

Now why, you ask, would Latinos be so uncharitable? It’s just a guess, but maybe it is because Mr. Trump has built his campaign on slandering Mexicans in America as criminal-rapist-country-destroyers, promises to expel 11 million unauthorized immigrants with a deportation force that would shatter countless families and devastate the economy, wants to build a 2,000-mile border wall by seizing billions of the dollars Mexican immigrants send home to support their families, cozies up to the racial-profiling, Latino-brutalizing Sheriff Joe Arpaio, and is otherwise using all his well-honed political skills to send a message that what America needs is to bring a white-supremacist, immigrant-hating, 19th-century-style nativist agenda back to Washington.

America first!

And because Mr. Trump seems to believe that saying nice things about his restaurant’s deep-fried taco shells, on Cinco de Mayo, will make that message go down easier with The Hispanics.

It’s called “Hispandering” and it’s epidemic within Mr. Trump’s G.O.P. Let’s leave it to The Hispanics to tell Mr. Trump and his party what they can do with their taco bowls, and their politics of hatred and division.
