New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez (R) isn't planning to attend a rally Tuesday night in her home state for Donald Trump, her party's presumptive presidential nominee.

Donald Trump Jr. on Tuesday evening downplayed news that the governor planning to skip the event, which will be held at a convention center in Albuquerque.

"You know honestly I don't know," Donald Trump Jr., said during an appearance on Fox News's "On The Record" when asked whether it was a snub of his father.

"I don't know what her agenda and her schedule is, but I think he's more focused about the people of New Mexico – creating jobs, bringing jobs back to this country, putting Americans to work – rather than pandering, so I don't think it's a big issue," Trump Jr. said.

Martinez, the head of the Republican Governors Association who has not yet backed Trump, previously endorsed Marco Rubio in the GOP primary and campaigned for the senator in Kansas. Asked Monday why she was not attending Trump's rally, Martinez said, "I'm really busy.

"I'm the governor of New Mexico and I'm really focused on what's going on here in New Mexico – just like the announcement we just did with 100 new high-tech and research jobs, improving the education for our kids, another job announcement tomorrow. Those are the things that I'm concentrating on and I'm going to keep concentrating on," Martinez told KOB-TV.

Martinez has been critical of Trump's controversial comments on Mexicans coming to the U.S. amid his harsh rhetoric on illegal immigration. Democrats are using Trump's appearance in the state to push her to break her silence on whether she'll endorse the businessman.
