Politico: The Obama administration announced a relaxation of visa rules and a new comprehensive plan to increase tourism at home -- the latest in a series of executive actions intended to create jobs and stimulate the economy.
"Every year, tens of millions of tourists from all over the world come and visit America. And the more folks who visit America, the more Americans we get back to work. We need to help businesses all across the country grow and create jobs; compete and win. That's how we're going to rebuild an economy where hard work pays off, where responsibility is rewarded, and where anyone can make it if they try," President Obama said in a statement.
The visa rule changes include increasing non-immigrant visa processing capacity in China and Brazil, ensuring that visa applicants are processed quickly and expanding the visa waiver program for certain travelers. The president is in Orlando, Fla. -- a major center of U.S. tourism -- today to promote the plan.
