Gingrich: Trump's attacks on judge 'unacceptable'

Presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump supporter and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich isn't on board with Trump's attacks on a federal judge.

“I don’t know what Trump’s reasoning was, and I don’t care,” Gingrich said in an email to The Washington Post. “His description of the judge in terms of his parentage is completely unacceptable.”

Trump has continually bashed U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel, who is overseeing the lawsuits over Trump's real estate education program, Trump University. Trump claims that because Curiel is of Mexican descent he is inherently biased against Trump and should recuse himself. Curiel was born in Indiana to immigrant parents.

"I think I’m going to do very well with Hispanics, but we’re building a wall. He’s a Mexican. We’re building a wall between here and Mexico," Trump said in a CNN interview.

Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), shortly after endorsing Trump, also condemned Trump's argument against the judge, saying he "completely disagrees" with his reasoning.
