Sanders, Clinton Split with Obama on Immigration Family Raids

Bloomberg News
February 11, 2016

Both Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton express disagreement with the part of President Obama’s immigration policy that has seen an uptick in arrests of undocumented immigrants from Central America, including mothers and children with an eye to deporting them.

At Democratic presidential debate in Wis. each instead stress that they would push hard to get a pathway to citizenship for estimated 11m undocumented immigrants if elected to White House.

“We have got to move toward a path to U.S. citizenship,” Sanders says

He says he would go further than Obama on use of executive authority in aiding immigrants, vowing to find way to use it to create citizenship path due to gridlock on issue in Congress.

Clinton says she would seek to push that policy change through Congress.
